Students are reminded that any drug, even those marketed as a 'legal high' are extremely dangerous and made from research chemicals with little to no information known on the long term effects to health.
Mephedrone is one such 'legal' high that can be bought on the street, in certain shops and online, advertised on websites as a 'plant feeder', with the statement 'not for human consumption'. Mephedrone is also known as 'Meow', 'Miaow', 'M-Cat' or 'Meph' and the substance comes in either a white powder, crystal or pill form.
These 'legal' highs are more and more popular and on the increase in Lincoln. Students are advised to be very mindful of the dangers and never assume that if something is marketed as 'legal' that it is safe. This couldn't be further from the truth and and side effects from Mephedrone include - anxiety, palpitations, paranoia, hallucinations, fits, nausea, vomiting and nose bleeds.
Please look out for each other and be aware of the risks and dangers involved taking any drug. If you are worried or would like further information, please visit our Drink and Drug page for useful contacts.
